Training
Last Updated: April 25, 2006

Q. What times, when, and how often will training occur?
A.

The project management office (PMO) has conducted a training needs assessment and audience analysis and is using the results to determine the training curriculum that end users' will need. The OAKS role-based training approach recommends a curriculum for end user basaed on the job tasks they will perform using the OAKS software. The PMO will coordinate a train-the-trainer (TTT) program to prepare State trainers to facilitate OAKS training. These trainers will be selected by each agency's AIT End User Training Coordinator (more information about this activity can be found on the Agency Readiness scorecard task 103). TTT will occur the month prior to end user training delivery. For Go Live 1, train-the-trainer (TTT) will occur in September and end user training delivery will occur from October - December. For each subsequent Go Live, TTT will occur the month prior to end user training delivery.

Q. Will agency divisions be required to train their external partners, vendors, etc?
A.

The OAKS PMO have identified in at least one general design that vendors will need to be trained/advised on reading the new PO. Also, OAKS plans to utilize the State Architect's Office (SAO College) along with the State Procurement Web site as one of the means to educate vendors on the use of OAKS.

Q. How will state agency staff become familiar with the OAKS software?
A.

Agency staff will have a number of opportunities to become familiar with the PeopleSoft software. Some agencies will participate in a Learner Acceptance Test to help pilot test OAKS end user training. Agency staff who are been selected as an OAKS Training Facilitator will participate in OAKS Train-the-Trainer sessions during that same time period. End user training will begin approximately 2-3 months prior to go-live. Once users have been trained, they will have access to a practice environment where they can continue to practice what they have learned during formal training. Additional system simulations and educational materials for OAKS core users will be available on the OAKS Extranet.
